Some of you might not have heard the sad news of Dom DeLuise's passing. He was seventy five years old when he died in a hospital in California last night.
I grew up on his movies as a child. Even when I was young, his voice was easily recognizable to me. Some of my favorite roles of his include Tiger from An American Tale, Itchy from All Dogs go to Heaven, and Jeremy the crow from The Secret of NIMH. His career spanned far beyond those roles. In addition to being an actor, he was a chef, had written children's books and cook books, as well as directing and producing a few of his own films.
So tonight, I will watch An American Tale and sing along with "A Duo".
Rest in Peace.

I know. I was crying when I found out. He was an important figure in my childhood... Gosh, he WAS my childhood.
I'm really stunned...and am taking his death pretty hard. RIP, Dom. </3 I am now watching The Troll in Central Park....

My heart died when I heard the news. The loss of Dom was a hard blow for all of us who loves good quality cartoons. Sure I know that someone will come along and create new cartoons. But they will have BIG shoes to fill. Goodbye, Dom, rest in peace. Thank you for all the joy you brought to others. You will never be forgotten. </3

When I learned about Dom DeLuise's passing this morning at 8 o'clock, I couldn't concentrate in class. I couldn't focus because I inwardly mourned for the loss of a comic legend. Immediately after class ended, I played "A Duo" from "An American Tail" on my iPod.
Dom DeLuise was a large man, but the only thing that was larger than his build was his great sense of humor. He was a comic legend with a beautiful, distinctive voice. Sure, he hilarious a lot of films, such as some of Mel Brooks' movies, but he was also an accomplished voice actor. Even though his voice was very disctinctive, he managed to bring warmth and humor in every character he voiced. Who could forget Fagin in "Oliver & Company?" Or his work in Don Bluth films? "The Magic Voyage" is a terrible movie, and yet Dom's portrayal of Christopher Columbus made that film at least tolerable.
Rest well, Dom DeLuise. You were a comic legend.
Plus, you looked really sexy in drag.

I was so sad! Tiger, Jeremy, and so many others! He was in Stargate SG-1, for God's sake! *sighs heavily* You will be missed, my man. Severely missed.
My favorite role of his had to be Tiger. Hands down. A cat that is a vegetarian...*hugs tiger* Rest in Peace, Dom.
