I'M a l i v e AGAIN
New Orleans was certainly a strange place.
It reminded her of Thebes, the bustling crowds, a mix of all types of people and the constant music; the cool sounds of the whimsical piano and the soulful trumpet. It was easy to be lost within all these people here, which suited Meg down to the ground at the moment. She had just been wandering for a long time now, without much purpose. She had no desire to return to Greece, there wasn't much for her back there. Her old friends had disappeared, and she had not seen Hercules in forever. Her mind constantly wandered to the possibilites of where he was, but she knew inside he could take care of himself, to an extent.
She entered a new quarter of the city, though this area didn't seem as flashy as the rest of the place. Here the people looked more ordinary, men laughed their way down to a local bar after a day's labouring, women followed after them; tittering away about some local gossip in their best dresses to watch a game of poker or the like. It was getting towards evening, and the heat didn't seem to show any signs of relenting, but the Grecian was used to it. It had been hotter in Greece before.
She kept wandering, the crowd thinning as people went back home or out to meet friends until she stumbled quite by chance upon a courtyard. The houses showed no signs of life, people were indoors watching tv or with their families, just how it should be. A small fountain slouched in the middle of the space, the water had long stopped pouring from it but it somehow still held a rustic charm about it. She sat down on the ledge, her legs crossed under her lilac dress and leaned on the palm of her hand. Meg sighed, it had been a long day without much luck.
