~~~Who I am Inside~~~
What is your character's history? Are they a hero, or a villain, a sidekick or guardian? What has happened to them in their lives to make them the way they are today?
While Judy is seen a few times throughout the film The Santa Clause, she only has one scene that reveals the type of character she is. Judy is an elf at the North Pole and she works in the kitchens as the all important cocoa maker. Her position is either extremely important or may extend to other areas because she is also the elf that personally attends to Santa Claus. Her job as the cocoa maker has been a long running part of her career at the North Pole since it took her twelve hundred years to make the perfect batch, making it the highlight of her career and an achievement she is very proud of.
Like the elves, Judy takes her role very seriously, and tries to make Santa’s job as easy as she can for him. While Bernard has proven to occasionally lose his patience with the newer and reluctant Santas, Judy takes the time to see that the adjustment is made as smoothly as possible, understanding that the role is a large one to fill- especially for the adults who have difficulty believing in it.
Describe your character's personality. What are their strengths and weaknesses, what are their passions? What qualities do they have that are good or bad?
Judy is a soft spoken elf with a cheery disposition and has faith in all that is good; because of this she can sometimes be too trusting of people including potential enemies of Santa. She is one of the more mature elves, as seen when she shoos away a giggling group wanting to steal a peek at the new Santa Claus. She is a grounded elf who tends to take what people say seriously and the only thing Judy has ever been sad about is the fact that adults usually stop believing, but she always brightens up when she thinks of the faith children have in them. She herself has a lot of faith in Christmas magic and in each Santa that comes along. The elves at the North Pole love and respect both her and her positive outlook on life.
~~~That's How You Know~~~
Give us a small sample of how you will play your character. Please don't copy a scene from their movie, and give us at least three paragraphs.
“I’ve done it!” the elf squealed with delight. “I’ve done it! I’ve done it! I’ve perfected my cocoa!” The burst of excitement from the elf drew the others in the immense kitchen to her table. Judy clapped her hands together and brought them to her chest as she stared at the perfect cup of hot cocoa before her. The rich chocolate drink was covered in a thin but fluffy white layer of foam created from stirring the drink precisely fourteen and three quarters times clockwise, and fourteen and a quarter times counter clockwise. The elves that had joined her at her table inhaled in unison and exhaled with a dreamy “Mmmm” upon their lips as they took in the pleasant aroma.
“You can all have some as soon as I get back! There’s someone special who I want to try it first.” The elf’s deep auburn eyes twinkled and her cheeks seemed rosier than ever as her smile stretched from pointed ear to ear. “I just know he’ll like it.” Several of the elves assured her that they knew Santa would like it too and no one noticed the tips of her ears had turned pink at the name for they were covered by a cascade of long brown hair. Judy giggled and hurried out the door with the silver cup placed securely in her hands.
Twelve hundred years! Twelve hundred years it had taken her to create the perfect batch of cocoa and it was all for him. Already she could imagine the jolly grin on his face, his shoulders slumping in relaxation as the concoction slid easily down his throat. And he would need to relax tonight especially. It was Christmas Eve! The busiest time of the year for him and a cup of cocoa would be the wonderful ending that was needed before he turned in for the night, ready to start planning for another year tomorrow. Judy entered the toy factory and looked around for the big guy himself- the one who all the other elves turned to for leadership this night.
“Bernard!” Judy called out over the railing once she spotted him. “Bernard!” But it seemed he could not hear her. The Head Elf was engaged in what looked like a heated conversation with three of the other elves. The dimple cheeked elf couldn’t help but smile as she watched him. Bernard was always so busy, even if it was Christmas Eve and all the toys that had been made were currently being delivered. With a small sigh she turned away and headed back towards the kitchen. Perhaps Bernard would be available to try her cocoa later. Along the way, Judy ran into an elf on his way up from wrapping. She greeted him with a warm smile and briefly peered down at her cup.
“Hello! Merry Christmas! Would you like to try my cocoa? I just finished making it.”
~~~You and Me Together We'll Be~~~
Why this character? What draws you to them, what makes you want to play them? Do you have anything in common with them?
I would love to play Judy because she is an absolutely adorable character and is the one who helps restore some of Scott Calvin’s belief in Santa Claus, even if only for a little while, which is a very important moment in a very good film. I am not an elf, but I am short and I also believe in Christmas magic, just like Judy. I think Judy would make a lovely addition to my roster and I hope you will agree and give me the opportunity to play her.
What would you like your custom title to be? This can be anything you like in reference to your character and will appear under your name.
Who else do you play here?
Hercules, Hook, Lumiere, Aphrodite, Amelia, Scott Calvin
