[[Title Backstory: Scene from Shenandoah (1965) with James Stewart.]]
Charlie Anderson: (speaking of daughter Jennie) Well, I'm sure going to miss her. Son: Is she goin' somewhere? Charlie Anderson: Oh, every woman goes somewhere sooner or later. You don't expect her to stay around here and take care of us all her life, do you? Son: I hadn't thought about it. I hadn't planned on her goin' anywhere. Charlie Anderson: Well, you better get used to the idea, boy. Your sister is ripe and the pickers are here. Of course, I don't s'pose you know what I mean, do you, boy? Son: I'm not as dumb as you think I am, Pa.
Kovu paced the floor tirelessly, moving from the kitchen to the living room and back. Each time he passed the clock on the wall he looked up, counting the seconds since the last inspection. There was an obvious trail from the lion's feet, the carpet getting darker under his weight.
Where can that girl be? he wondered, passing the clock for what seemed like the hundredth time. It is long passed the time she should have gotten home. Oh, what if something happened to her. What if she got into an accident and she's lying in a ditch somewhere unable to get help. What if some sleezeball kidnapped her and took her to some drive-thru wedding chapel for a fast marriage. What if . . .
Easy now, old boy, replied his concious soothingly. You know you taught Elietta better than that. She's a bright girl. If something was really wrong, she would have let you know by now. She does have the power to speak with her mind after all.
Yeah, you are right, agreed the lion, forcing himself to calm down. Maybe I should go talk with Haidar. He might know where she is. But, no, Haidar went over to Evan to have dinner. That would be humiliating for him if his father calls up panicing because his sister is an hour late coming home from school.
The lion paused in his tracks, the chiming of the clock growing louder in his ears. Taking a deep breath, Kovu thought of some calming thoughts: Everything was fine, there was nothing for him to worry about.

Quick footsteps could be heard against the pavement, as a slender young girl hurried home from school. Her raven curls were waving around her head as she moved, the wind playing gently with her hair. Her emerald eyes expressed concern, as she KNEW she was late, and that Daddy probably was worried sick by now. ONE HOUR!!! How could I have been delayed with ONE HOUR? Daddy's going to KILL me!!!She moved quickly over the ground, thinking about her school day. It had started great. She got good grades in her English class, and the story she had written and delivered in as homework, had been read for the rest of the class as an example of what a good story should look like. The break between the third and the fourth lesson was brilliant, with her putting Dean in the closet and lock the door, just like he always locked Haidar in the closet. A wicked smile crossed her face when she thought of it, wondering what Haidar would say when he heard of it. The last lesson of the day was called off, since the teacher was sick, and Elietta, being the eager student she was, went to the school library to sit down and read. She was just reading a great chapter about the French revolution in 1789, when she heard someone speak to her. Elietta looked around, and to her surprise it was one of the older boys in school, a boy she didn't know, except from the fact that he was one of the boys that accepted Haidar. They had started speaking about history, and all of a sudden, Elietta discovered that she should have been home from school one hour ago. She jumped up and scampered out of the library, before the boy could finish his sentence. I don't remember if I said goodbye.... ah well, I leave eventual explanations to Haidar. It's HIS friend....Finally she arrived the garden gate to her home, and made her way through the roses, violets and daffodils, unaware how beautiful she was in the bright sunlight. With glittering eyes and cheeks blushing after the quick walk home from school, she entered the hallway and straightened her clothes, that had gotten disarrayed while she was running home from school. The first thing she noticed when she entered the living room, was a large trail on the carpet between the kitchen and the living room, the darkness of the carpet caused by her father's weight. Poor Daddy, I was right... he IS worried about me...."Helloooo!" she called out, wondering if she was in trouble. "Anybody home?" (How about Haidar and his friend showing up at the house? Perhaps homework? )

Kovu had taken his worrying to the backyard, concerned that his wife would skin him for leaving a rut in the living room carpet. He strained his ears for any sound, any whispher that would mark his daughter's return home.
This had been a time that Kovu had dreaded since learning of Elietta's existance: her teenage years. Boys with lollying tongues and eager hands. Hormones raging and unsettling questions that Kovu had so far dodged, passing them to his wife. Thankfully Elietta hadn't yet shown an interest in boys (not to say that they hadn't noticed her, a fact that made Kovu sharpen his claws). But it would only be a matter of time . . .
Kovu froze in his paceing (thankful that the stone patio didn't show his trail as well as the carpet) when he heard Elietta's voice in the house. Going in the back door, he entered the kitchen and joined his daughter in the living room. He didn't speak for a moment, quiet aware that the girl looked so much like her mother. She would be hard to protect when the boys came a callin', but this lion was up to the challenge.
"Getting in a little late?" he asked, putting on his sternest face (which didn't do him much good in the long run as Elietta had him wrapped around her finger, and knew it). "Haidar asked permission to go to Evan's for dinner? Where have you been?"

((Awwww Kovu is so cuuuute!!! *melts* <333 There is no way Esmeralda would skin her husband! )) Elietta looked around in the living room, her eyes widening when she saw the rut in the living room carpet. She couldn't help feeling a bit guilty, knowing that her beloved Daddy was probably worried sick about her. She NEVER came home from school one hour late. If anything, she was sent home BEFORE school was out for the day. The house was remarkably quiet. Mommy was at work as usual, she knew that Penny was out with some of her friends, and probably Zephyr too. But knowing them, they had probably told Mommy and Daddy they would be late already. Elietta sighed. She hadn't even PLANNED to be late back from school. She wondered what her father was thinking right now.... Finally her Daddy sensor kicked in, telling her that Daddy was nearby, and that he now was on his way to meet her. She could see him enter the kitchen before he joined her in the living room. Elietta smiled, remembering the days the mere sight of him made her squeal "DADDY" and latch herself to his legs. He used to laugh and pick her up by the back of her dress, before placing her behind his back, on her favorite spot. She had always felt safe with Daddy. Why can't I be Daddy's little girl again, like I used to be? I miss the times I used to cling to his fur while he carried me around....She gave her father a smile, unaware that her happy childhood memories had brought tears to her eyes. "Hello, Daddy," she said softly. "Even if I am a tad too big to latch myself to your legs now without looking stupid, I am still happy to see you...." She saw his stern face expression, and her smile widened. Daddy was so cute when he tried to protect her. There had always been a special bond between her and Kovu. When everyone else in the family had to give up making Elietta do something she didn't want to, Kovu could make her do it anyway, just by a few words or his face expressions that always made her melt. This time was no exception. By the sight of her father, she knelt down beside him, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him in to a hug. "I am sorry I am late, Daddy," she said, trying to rearrange her clothes again, buttoning her jacket, straightening her school girl uniform, that looked GREAT on her slender body and made boys and grown men drool like hungry dogs in front of raw meat. "I was in the school library doing homework. Then one of Haidar's friends started talking to me, and... well.... he seemed a lot smarter than other boys in the school, so I forgot to watch the time during our conversation. When I noticed how late it was, I ran all the way home, because I knew you were worried about me. I still have a lot of schoolwork to do, but first: Do we have any food? I am starved!" She placed her schoolbag on an empty chair, not noticing that a note fell down on the floor. The note was hand written. It was a man's writing and it contained only a name: "Mark Twain." (Disarranged clothes, late for home, and a note with a man's name on it? ;D I leave to Kovu to decide if he believes in his daughter...)

Another day at school was over for Gaston. He had been helping out in this school for a while. Since Gaston's childhood mostly consisted of him being training to be the physical specimen that he his, Gaston didn't go to school. Although he was quite intelligent for a man who could not read books just a short few years ago. Gaston was in the library as usual, even though he still had problems with the harder books, he still knew quite a bit.
A few students had come into the library before school ended. It was good to see some more more interested in books than getting into trouble. One girl in particular was interested in French history for some reason. Gaston could help but question her interests and talk to her until some time after school ended. She ran off without being able to finish their conversation, She looked like she was going to need help with her home work so Gaston decided to follow her.

Kovu watched as Elietta latched herself to his front legs, just as she had done when she was little. A quick smile crossed his lips before he reminded himself to be angry.
So his instincts were right. A boy! The lion seathed with anger, wanting to find the little pest and claw out his eyes.
"I expected more responsibility from you Elietta," he told her softly, pulling out of her grip.
He watched as she went into the kitchen for food. He saw how dishevled her clothing had been. Perhaps it had been from her haste in coming home, perhaps. Kovu's mind flew back to the boy that she had claimed to be with. There were a million possibilities, most of which he didn't want to think about his "little girl" being involved in . . .
Following her into the kitchen, hoping that his wife would be home soon, he saw a piece of paper tumble to the floor. He saw the name written there and his eyes widened. With a quick flick of his tail, he knocked it under the table, waiting to retrieve it later.

After walking for a while Gaston eventually found the home of Esmeralda and Kovu. Although he did not know it, today was going to be a very interesting day. When Gaston went to knock on the door of the house, he was surprised that it was open. As he walked into the house he saw the male lion in the Kitchen with the girl he had met at the school earlier that day.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I was hoping I could help Elettia with her homework. She seems to be really interested with French history and I'm sure I could teach her a lot."
Gaston was really just trying to be helpful, he had no idea exactly how popular Elettia was or that coming hear would make a bad first impression on the male lion that appeared to be her father.

Elietta noticed the quick smile on her father's lips before he remembered he was supposed to be angry and the stern face expression was back on his face. Elietta playfully put on her unhappy-baby face, knowing it didn't give the same result as it had done when she was a toddler. Innocent as she was, she had no idea what caused her father's anger, or what he had been thinking when he was alone. She thought he was angry because she had been late without informing her parents, making them worried.
"I'm sorry I'm late, Dad. I was in the library and read, and met a nice boy. We talked, until I realized how late it was and ran home."
Elietta opened the cupboard to fetch a plate and a glass for her meal. Thus, she didn't notice the note with "Mark Twain" falling from her bag. Neither did she notice her father knocking the note under the table to study later.
After grabbing an apple and pouring herself some orange juice, she turned to face her father again. Right then the boy she had spoken to in school came inside, starting to speak to her father. Elietta knew her father well enough to know that when he had the stern face expression, it was better to give him some privacy. With a brief smile she took Gaston's hand, dragging him after her into the living room.
"Oh, it's you again. I am so happy you're here. Please, come with me...."
She closed the door behind her, leaving her father behind in the kitchen.
"Please sit down," she said, offering Gaston a place in the couch.

Kovu saw the boy come into the house. He wasn't really a boy, more like a full grown man. How did these kids grow up so fast?? Did he spill a potion on himself too!
Kovu's distaste didn't improve as the boy began talking about Elietta, who quickly ushered him out of the room. Wise girl, he thought, knowing that he was moments from exploding in anger.
As soon as the pair vanished from sight, Kovu snatched the note from its hiding place. He fumbled to get it open (claws are not helpful in cases like this), a childlike enthusiasm on his face. You would think he was Haidar at his first Christmas . . . . .
Deciphering what little human language he could read (he was better at speaking than reading), Kovu scanned the note, eyes going wider with each line. The first message he recognized as Elietta's:
"I borrowed Mark Twain from Debra, who got him from Anne. When I am done with him, how about you try him out?"
Then another write put:
"I don't know Eli. He seems kinda boring and old-fashioned. How could you stay interested for so long?"
"Mark Twain is really brilliant. You should try him. I think he would be perfect for you. Last night I went to bed with a million thoughts in my head. His use of words was so captivating and so hypmotizing. I couldn't stop, it was so wonderful."
"That sounds great but I don't want to do it just because he's popular. Seems like I am playing the favorite. Besides, my tastes aren't as advanced as yours. Are you sure I will like it?
"I am COMPLETELY sure, Jenny. Just take your time and get used to his style. You love it by the end of the night. Trust me!
The paper tumbled to the floor as Kovu finished. He was right, this message proved it. Oh, he was so glad that Haidar and the rest of the kids were out of the house. The less witnesses, the better. The only problem was where could he hide the body . . . .
[[*evil laugh* Love you all! Wanna include Esme??]]

[*Dies laughing* Oh, this is getting better by the minute! I just looove that note with the teenage gossip. XDDD It would be so typical of Elietta to write something like that... ;D ;D ;D Time to bring Mommy in.]
Esmeralda was walking through her garden after a long day at work. She could see the grass was flattened in certain areas, as if someone had been walking in circles, around and around and around. Thinking it was the children playing, she didn't think much of it, only laughing it off. Grass would grow there again soon after a little watering and some care.
She hummed as she moved up the tiny path through her backyard. It was a shortcut from her working place. It had been a good day for her, and she had got a LOT of tip from tourists grateful for her help with the language. On her way home she had stopped at the butcher and bought some juicy steaks, knowing her husband would love the meal she planned for him. With a dreamily smile she opened the door to the kitchen, hoping that her beloved husband was home. She had been longing for him all day.
She moved into the kitchen, placing the shopping bags on the counter.
"Hello, everybody, I'm home," she called out softly, as she opened the refrigerator, starting to take out the ingredients for making Kovu his favorite dinner.

[[ you guys are killing me ;D ]]
Gaston was only able to say a few words before Elietta took him into the next room. Gaston did manage to see a look of concern on the male lions face, unfortunately he couldn't explain what was going on yet. Taking her offer Gaston sat on one side of the couch with a smile and a bit of a curious look on his face.
"It will be better if you sit next to me, it will be easier for me to show you want you need to know when your closer. I am guessing that he is your father, he should be happy when we can explain all of this to him. I am sure he will approve of me taking care of you at school and at home. There are many French things that I could help you with, where do you want to start?"
If Gaston only knew that him helping Elietta with her homework could be taken the wrong way. At this moment he was in the home of a woman he had once tried to date and was alone with her daughter. From the outside looking in, it would be hard to not get the wrong idea.
[[ This is just a little warm up in double entendre's. Starting off slow should be funnier then just throwing them all out there. XD ]]

[[ Oh, Gaston, your post makes me laugh so hard I can hardly type! Well, lets see if we can give Daddy reason to worry, shall we? ;D ]]
Elietta watched the thunderstorm in her Daddy's face, and was glad she managed to bring Gaston away from Daddy's path before he became Daddy's next meal. She had never SEEN Daddy eat humans before, but still.... He HAD told her about his childhood, being raised by Zira, and Elietta didn't take any chances when Daddy had that face expression. She was a bit confused, not knowing why Daddy looked like that.
I am one hour late from school, and he looks like I've commited the Crime of the Century?
By Gaston's words, Elietta nodded and placed herself on the same couch as Gaston, but still keeping a respectable distance between them. She looked over at Gaston with a smile, having no idea what her father was thinking on the other side of the door. After all, she hadn't seen him picking up the note in her school bag.
"I must admit I am a bit nervous," she said with a small laugh. "I have never done this before, so I hope you will go gentle with me in the start, until I get used to it. Perhaps we could do some warming up first?"
She picked up her history book from the school bag. It was an enormous book, thick and big, and weighed a LOT, since it's content was the World History in one volume.
"Oh my god!" she gasped, placing the book on the table. "It is so BIG!!!"
(I can't wait to see Daddy's reactions to this one.... ;D ;D ;D ;D )

[[Decided to go again to keep with this just for a bit more humor]]
Gaston listened to Elietta explain that she had not had someone help her study before. He was a bit surprised, there had to be at least a few people that could help her with history other than himself. Looking at the large book she pulled out of her backpack Gaston sighed a bit knowing that this might take a while.
"Don't worry if it is your first time I'm not going to hurt you or anything. If you want a warm up we should focus on something easy." Gaston then flipped the nook open to the index and spoke again. "We will just look around and start with the most common areas then get into the more complicated places." Gaston tried to sound reassuring that in time they could make it through the important points of history would be covered.
"I know it is a lot to try and take in all at once but we have plenty of time so we should be able to squeeze as much in as possible. If you need to take a break for a while be sure and tell me, sometimes I do manage to get caught up in what I'm doing."

Kovu was stuck between stunned disbelief and the insane urge to rip out the man's heart. Thankfully it was at that time that his wife walked in. He stood in the center of the kitchen watching her, mouth slightly open, nothing like his usual greeting.
Finally mastering himself, he began to jabber, his incoherent words broken occasionally by growls and words like "Elietta" and "boy".
Noticing that the livingroom was surprisingly quiet, he went to the door that linked them and listened. He could make out a few words and his eyes widened.
"Come and listen to this!" he hissed to his wife, not wanting to miss a moment of the evidence. It would come in handy for his defense if he was caught stuffing the man's body into a sinkhole in the backyard.
