I'm crying. I knew that being diagnosed with something as severe as pancreatic cancer meant that his chances of survival were very slim, but to hear of his death only a year and a half after his diagnosis when doctors seemed to be so optimistic is a bit of a shock.
He was one of my favorite actors. Not many people realize that he wrote and sang the song She's Like the Wind from Dirty Dancing. It's a shame he didn't sing more often, because he had a beautiful voice.
Tonight I will watch Dirty Dancing and Ghost, and cry my eyes out. Patrick, you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers will be with your family and loved ones.

Summed up exactly as I thought ): It must be terrible for people who know they're going to die of a disease...This is why it's so unfair and terrible when people with halfway decent lives commit suicide.
Just thought I'd say that ><

I know, I heard about it on the news and I was shocked too despite knowing about the cancer. It's so sad, he was such a wonderful actor, singer and dancer. Amazingly talented! I watched his interview with his wife about his cancer and it's so heartbreaking to watch now. Him and his wife are soulmates, and it's earth shattering to think their apart now. They represent that love like that really exists an Patrick himself seemed so strong and inspirational. R.I.P My heart goes out to all his loved ones.

Patrick Swayze was a great person and a great actor. His spirit and the joy he brought to others will live on, even now that he's gone. Patrick, for me, you were like the wind, carrying strong, traveling around and being a great inspiration for others. You will never be forgotten.

I was shocked to find about this the moment I saw the news online. What a great performer that he was. At least he made great contributions to the film world, like for "Dirty Dancing" and in "Fox and the Hound 2" by providing the voice for Cash.
May he rest in peace.
