*Doctor Delbert Doppler - Treasure Planet*

Doctor Delbert Doppler

Delbert Doppler has plenty of book smarts, but almost no experience in the real world. Because of this weakness he can be rather gullible at times and can be easily taken in by a persuasive silver tongue, however if you're ever in need of facts or advanced logic then Doppler is your man... or dog... He is also fiercely loyal, so if the chips are down and it looks like the end, don't be surprised to find the Doctor still by your side.
Delbert Doppler was the second of two sons in his family and was raised by his father Bartin alongside his brother Drasier. Always bright, it was no surprise to their father when the pair both excelled at school and became Doctors, however Drasier moved away and the siblings paths separated.
There can be no denying that Doctor Delbert Doppler is intelligent, however his intelligence is entirely based on facts and figures, the indicators of a life spent in pursuit of learning. Like most on Montressor, he often dreamed of exploring space, yet never got any further then the nearest library to research the subject. However, unlike his brother Drasier, Delbert eventually got his chance for adventure when Jim Hawkins turned up with a map to the legendary treasure planet.
Doppler left his structured world of learning and entered the unknown, a move that turned out to be more fraught with danger then he would have preferred. Pirates attacked the voyage, and like the rest of the loyal crew Delbert was hurled into mortal danger for the first time in his life. Fortunately for the Doctor he returned home safely in the company of his new lady friend Captain Amelia Smollett.
Roleplay
This is a post from WoD, so won't make too much sense out of context. I will however be very disappointed if Esme doesn't recognise it.
Doppler considered her idea for a moment, finally spotting something in the room that could be of use, a simple cardboard box of the type that would have contained food, however it was not empty. Fortunately the box was also rather large, which have Delbert and idea.
“I don’t think anything that modern would work, but have you noticed that the host keeps mentioning about us being players in the tale?” he began, gauging her reaction, “With all his attic references it seems they’re re-enacting the way they died. It’s common in ghost legends for them to suffer delusions like that.” He dragged the box over to Esmeralda, grabbing the curtain again and throwing it over the box like a tablecloth.
“May I?” he reached into her bag, drawing out several more of the type of hair clip she had offered him before, which he used to pin the curtain to the box so that it would stay in place. Finally he tipped the box onto each of its sides in turn so that it had a suitable covering of dust.
“It’s possible that if they don’t notice us their it wont break the illusion, so I propose hide in this!” He gestured towards the completed box proudly, carving eye holes with the screwdriver for whoever was navigating.
