I had never seen this movie before Esme told me she wanted to claim Tulio. Luckily for me, it happened to be uploaded to YouTube and I was able to watch it. What a movie, I loved it! The characters, the jokes, the music... All wonderful.
I love the lively music in the beginning. Elton John really knows how to surprise with a set of incredible songs. All of the songs are great and memorable, but I think my favorite song is Friends Never Say Goodbye. I wanted to cry though out the whole scene, or at least knock Tulio and Miguel's heads together and tell them to quit being so stubborn.
The characters are all great too. I love how you can tell right away how different Miguel and Tulio are just by how they react to the sailor's map. Tzekel Khan takes the title of Scary Beyond All Reason away from Yzma. That whole thing with his eyes rolling back, and the spider bit? *shudders* My extreme fear of spiders aside, that's just creepy. Chel is sassy, and I adored her happy school girl look when Tulio told her he wanted her to come to Spain.
