Elisa felt a welcome surge of happiness when Warren mentioned Macaria as his girlfriend. She thought back to the one time she had seen the pyros together, at her wedding reception. Maci's temper had evaporated the moment she saw him, and he had looked equally as happy to see her. She smiled, knowing that despite what Hades and Persephone had done, they could still be together. It said a lot about their bond.
She was a little surprised when Warren said she could call the others as well. Warren was never much for being the center of attention. Still, she figured he'd rather say it all once rather than again and again once his friends all found out.
"You bet." Elisa said, reaching down to catch his phone before it slid under the bed. Corbie fixed her with a dirty look for taking away her toy.
"Oh don't give me that look." Elisa said. "I'll get you some string in a minute."
Scrolling through Warren's phone book, Elisa selected Macaria's number, hitting the call button. It rang a few times, then went to the answering machine.
"Hi, Maci. It's Elisa. Listen, Will dropped Warren off at my house and... Well, he needs you. If you could come to the Hacienda when you get this... Thanks."
Elisa hung up the phone and handed it back to Warren before reaching into her pocket to pull out her own cell phone. She wrote out a quick text message, knowing it would be faster than calling everyone.
Warren needs us. Come to the Hacienda if you can.
Elisa scrolled though her contact list, selecting Nani and Will's names. She knew that Nani would never judge Warren for this, and figured Will would be able to find their friends who hadn't broken and gotten cell phones yet.
"You find out who your friends are... Somebody's gonna drop everything..." Elisa sang softly to herself as she hit send. The upbeat country song was actually fitting here. She didn't doubt that the people who got the message would get here as quickly as possible.
Elisa looked up at Warren, smiling again.
"So, you and Maci, huh? I can't believe Will didn't tell me. I'm gonna totally kick his butt for that."
Elisa paused, knowing that saying her beating Will up was like saying she was gonna push Warren into a burning building.
"Or... you know. Make a solid effort to." She grinned.
"But I think it's great about you and Maci." Elisa continued. "How long have you been an item?"
<<If you were mentioned in Elisa's text, consider it an invite to the thread ^^>>

Warren bent over and scooped Corbie up onto the bed, cuddling the silently protesting cat. He plopped her down on the pillow he'd been holding moments before, and he eased himself back down on the bed. The pyro let out a deep sigh as he half-listened to Elisa's message to Macaria, absently stroking the black cat.
Did it look like he'd been crying? Warren supposed it didn't matter, since he figured he'd probably burst into tears again when the subject eventually turned to a more thorough account of that night. He was the only person who knew the details... well, he and Persephone knew them. The teenager miserably supposed that she probably knew even more than he did, since he'd shut his eyes for most of it, anyway.
He wordlessly accepted his phone back from Elisa and slapped it on the nightstand, then returned to petting Corbie. She was a comfort, of sorts… Unless Mrs. Williams somehow communicated it to her, the feline had no idea of what was going on, besides the fact that she was supposed to attack his leg every time he tried to get up. Corbie couldn’t judge or put in any opinions, whether they were words of comfort or support for the more shadowy emotions that tumbled in his mind, his shame, self-pity, and the awful feeling that he was somehow less of a person than he was before.
Elisa addressed him and jerked him out of his melancholy reverie. Warren’s eyes softened as Maci’s name floated through the bedroom, and the corners of his mouth twitched in a smile at the mental picture of Will getting trounced.
“Someone needs to give him a good fight… Kid gets cocky. He spirited me away here without even telling me first, after all. Corbie, too. And I’m betting she didn’t sleep through it.”
Warren flipped his pet over and started giving her a belly rub. Corbie purred.
The pyro looked at the ceiling for a moment. “We really just started…” He said quietly, silently wishing the goddess in question would materialize at the door all the more sooner. “It’s only been since… the… um…” Warren’s face fell. He looked away for a second, finding his voice again. “Will took me over to his place since I was so shaken, and I guess he wanted me to just talk to someone, because I didn’t want to talk to him about it and Maci just turned up at the door… But I just broke in front of her. Cried even harder than I did just now, and somehow, I just let it slip out that I was crushing on her… but she told me that she loved me, too.”
Warren left out the kissing, the hugging, the cuddling, and the petting… that was theirs for the time being. But he let the memory run through his mind, and his eyes lost their focus for a second as his lips started curling into his shy smile again. Earth to Warren…
Corbie mewed, since his hand had stopped rubbing her for a second. Her human sighed and lifted her and the pillow off of himself, rolling over onto his stomach with a groan. Warren resumed her belly rub and ran his other bandaged hand through his hair. He smoothed it back a little, brushing a few locks out of his eyes. He wished he had a mirror or something… His hair must’ve been a mess. He hadn’t straightened it in a while, and it was curling back into the natural wavy mop that drove him crazy. It made him look way too much like his father… At least his eyes set him apart from Dad. Instead of Baron’s clunky glasses, Warren had received his mother’s oblique, almond-shaped eyes with her dark chocolate irises.
The teenage pyrokinetic fished an elastic out of his pocket. “Can you tie this mess back while everyone’s getting here?” He propped himself up on his elbows and held out the hair tie to Elisa.

Macaria hadn't heard her phone ring until it had gone to the answering machine on it. She glanced at the tiny screen, confused as she saw a number there that she didn't recognize. Her number was 666 and got dialed frequently. There was always some goofball who'd call and see if the devil would pick up or something stupid like that. It came pretty close, she supposed. Techinally, she was the daughter of the devil. When the phone signaled that the message had ended, Macaria went into her voicemail and listened. Elisa....Elisa, Elisa, Elisa. Hadn't she come to the Underworld once before? Yes, that's right, she had found her with Cerbie and the mortal woman had wanted to see Hades. She was a friend of her mothers, Macaria remembered, a slight scowl forming on her black painted lips. Persephone was someone she didn't want to talk about. Who knew what her parents were thinking now anyway. Macaria had been gone from the Underworld for five days now, wandering the cities of Greece (vandalizing temples; she was bored). And frankly, she couldn't care less if her parents were worried. Chances were, anyway, that they weren't. They both knew she had a tendency to wander. Macaria blinked and frowned as Elisa spoke of Warren. She hadn't seen him in a few days. "Nothing else better have happened," Macaria muttered to herself, clicking the phone shut with a little snap. She wouldn't be able to handle it. Hades, Persephone, and then someone else all hurting Warren, her Warren, it was just.... The chances of this were very slim, though. One could only be so unlucky. Macaria disappeared off the streets of Thebes. *** And she reappeared in the 'Hacienda' Elisa had told her to come to. Maci grinned to herself. Handy goddess trick....not knowing where you were going when ya poofed there. A name was a powerful thing. It could bring you almost anywhere. Well, provided you had some kind of magic to bring you there. Macaria pushed open a door and walked into another room. There she saw the mortal who had been at the Underworld a few days ago, and Warren. And Corbie. The goddess leaned almost automatically against a wall, subconsiously mimicking a pose her father used at any Olympic gathering he was dragged to. She shot a grin at Warren, and then smiled at Elisa too, in a friendly way. "Okay," she said what was on her mind, and her voice had a slightly nervous edge to it, " Please tell me nothing else happened to you, Warren."

In an instant, he forgot all about his hair.
The pyro’s face lit up in one of his dazzling smiles, tinged with a bit of worry over her own anxiety that shivered in her voice.
In a flash, Warren unceremoniously shoved Corbie out of the way and shot out of bed, pulling her into a hug. The ache hit him after he moved, but he leaned on Macaria for support and squeezed her a little tighter as he waited for it to stop. He pressed a kiss to her cheek at the same moment, silently laughing as he felt his stubble tickle her. He looked like he’d just woken up – bed head, pj’s, 5 o’clock shadow, the works. Corbie recovered from being pushed off the bed and attacked Warren’s leg. He grabbed the back of his sweatpants with one hand to keep his cat from pawing them off.
“Hey…” he said softly, his other hand tracing lazy circles in the small of her back. “Don’t worry, nothing happened… ‘Cept just now, I think I had-…” his voice dropped in volume as he whispered the rest in her ear. He was pretty dang sure Elisa wasn’t going to approve of it.
Warren dropped his gaze and frowned at the currently very annoying feline, who was trying to chew on his toe. “Jealous much…” he muttered, then pulled Maci over to the bed and got back in to appease his cat. The pyrokinetic stretched his complaining torso, grunting a little, then sat up cross-legged.
“…Y’know how I promised that I’d tell you what happened that night?” He looked to his girlfriend a bit shyly, the laugher he had seconds ago now subdued. “I think I’m ready to talk about it, if you’re feeling up to it… I just wanted you near if I got upset again.”

She walked for quite a while before reaching Elisa's lovely home. It was a good thing that she wore sneakers today rather than sandals, for she had to walk a good few blocks to get here. Otherwise, she would be crawling in a heap of sweat. Fortunately, she was about as chipper as the dying afternoon sun. She walked up the path, but noticed that the door was open. This confused her. Perhaps it had been the cause of some innocent mistake?
The semi-round cherub made her way to the kitchen, noticing right away that Elisa wasn't scolding Tulio for his terrible appetite. Usually, he found them bickering, arguing together or just romancing each other till they turned blue. But the house was far too quiet; it almost led her to believe that she wasn't there. Concerned, she made her way hastily to where Elisa was, opening the door anxiously as she poked her head through the crack, shifty-eyed. "Warren? Baby, are you alright? I got the message on my cell phone as soon as I..." she mouthed nervously, only to discover he was safe and sound.
She rolled her eyes and pulled back to open the door, her right hand pressed to her chest, as if she would suffer an immediate heart attack. Yes, the boy could take care of himself, but it was in the Hawaiian's nature to spazz. It worried her - how his mother was incapable of keeping an eye on her only son. Because of this, Nani had the habit of coming over his house almost every day to check on him. And, apparently, she arrived just in the nick of time.
Elisa called her to settle down a make-out session?! Foolish Nani guessed this, of course. Warren had ONLY kissed her on the cheek.
The boy didn't have a condom, and already was he face-chomping some teenage fluff-trog. Much to her surprise, it was Hades's little spawn. She didn't know what to think. She leaned against the doorway and arched a perfectly-curved eyebrow. She was about to mention the benefits of waiting before marriage, how being a virgin wasn't a bad thing, and how she herself was a virgin...
But the opportunity to educate the youthful duo vanished.
She didn't have the chance to utter such a silly notion when she found Warren suppressing a physical somatic. She wandered over to Elisa and crouched to where she was, pressing her lips to her forehead, a kindly greeting. "Hey," she said quietly.
Nani neared Warren, cupping his face with worried eyes. "Come out with it. What could have possibly happened?" she asked tenderly, hesitantly withdrawing her hands. She knew how teenagers liked their personal space.
She backed away and stood beside the cop, biting her lip.

<<*rushes in to catch up*>>
Elisa grinned at Warren's statement about Will.
"He may be cocky, but he does care a lot about you." Elisa said. "He's a good friend."
Elisa was a little surprised at the timing in Maci and Warren's relationship. She didn't judge them for it at all. She just marveled at the strange sense of timing love sometimes had. Mentally shrugging, she knew it wasn't important. They were together, and though Warren didn't elaborate, the far away dreamy look Warren got in his eyes spoke volumes.
Elisa reached for Warren's hair band, but before she could move behind him, the goddess herself appeared. Warren's face spread into one of his rare and beautiful smiles, and Elisa beamed. She always loved Warren's smile, and the fact that he was able to smile like this for Maci once again told Elisa just how much the Underworld's princess meant to him. His hair suddenly and clearly the last thing on his mind, Warren wasted no time in closing the distance between them and embracing her.
Tears of happiness began to swim in Elisa's eyes. This was true love, and a blind man would be able to see that Maci and Warren were simply made for each other.
A jealous Corbie batted and bit at Warren's feet, and before she could scoop the feline into her own arms to give the pyros more time together, Warren moved back to lay in the bed, his hand never releasing Maci's.
"Sorry." Elisa said as Warren assured his girlfriend that he was alright, all things considered. "I should have been more clear in the message. I didn't mean to worry you."
It occured to Elisa that she and Maci ought to have a heart to heart at some point during the day. Looking at the goddess and the way she held Warren in her eyes, there was no doubt in her mind that she'd ever hurt him. But with her mother and Elisa's best friend being the cause of the pain of the person they both deeply cared for... Things would have to be said.
Nani rushed in, and Elisa once again mentally chided herself for being so light on the details. She just didn't know what else to say, besides the simple fact that Warren needed his loved ones close by. She squeezed the Hawaiian's hand gently to calm her.
"We've got a few others on their way." Elisa said. "We'll wait for them."
Elisa glanced around the room. Maci and Warren had the bed, and she had taken the chair again, but Nani was left standing, and there would be several other people in soon.
"Hey Maci, do you think you could poof us up a few extra chairs?"

((Nani, did you just call Maci a 'teenage fluff-trog'?!? O.o WTF!?! XDDDDD))
Macaria grinned at Warren practically launched himself off the bed he was on to hug her. She hugged him back, taking care not to hurt any sore spots, and the goddess couldn't help but grin as he kissed her on the cheek. Someone else walked in (and she felt to Macaria strangely familiar....) but she ignored her and cuddled Warren. She giggled as the rest of his comment hit her ears.
Maci was pulled towards the bed he had been laying in, stepping over Corbie, and she snuggled next to him with a little smile. Maci glanced up at Elisa, relieved. "You nearly had me in a panic attack," she complained lightly, smirk still in place. It vanished as the other woman suddenly 'appeared' in front of them; Maci blinked, somewhat startled, and then narrowed her eyes.
Wanna make it anymore obvious that you don't like me? Maci thought with a mental eyeroll, but the woman quickly backed off, and Macaria's attention was next directed to Warren as he spoke.
Macaria almost paled when Warren told her the reason she was here. Was she ready to hear about what her parents had done to him? Maci bit her lip and nodded. She was, if it meant being there for Warren...
"I'm here for ya," she said with a little grin and hugged him gently.
Maci glanced up at Elisa as she requested for more chairs. Maci grinned and waved her hand effortlessly; about five (black) chairs appeared in the room. All of them fit into the same theme, dark and frighteningly gothic. The legs of the chair twisted around in a spiky and Underworldian way. Macaria looked apologetic.
"Underworldian stuff is the best I can do," she explained, rather embarrassed, "Sorry. They're safe to sit in, at least."
Well, I think so. Macaria added mentally as an afterthought.

Jim's ears flicked to Will's pocket. It was... singing. The dragon inclined his head to the younger boy, who'd just whipped out a cell phone. He tapped his tail anxiously, glancing at Quasimodo. Earth technology was just as foreign to the hunchback as it was to him. Seriously, the little phones didn't even have a hologram projector? "Warren needs us..." Will read, his voice subdued. Jim whined, prodding Will for an explanation. Dread began to settle in his stomach. The last time he'd seen Warren was an extremely hard memory. His own body had been twisting into his strange, new shape, and the pyro had been barely conscious with his arms skewed and broken... "He shouldn't be hurt... I mean, I just dropped him off at Elisa's place this morning..." Will tried explaining to Jim and Quasi. "That's right... you haven't seen him yet... or heard what happened..." Will mused, half to himself and half to Jim. The dragon whimpered again and raised his head to give an annoyed snort of flame. Just spit it out and tell me what's going on already... No such luck for Jim. Will hovered up to the teenage dragon's eye level, patting him on the nose. "You wanna come with? Quasi, you can come, too." Jim nuzzled the redhead and lifted him onto his back with his nose, flexing his velvety black wings. With a powerful leap, Jim left the ground and ascended into the sky with Will trailing behind. ~*~ Will wrenched the unfortunate front door off its hinges for the second time today. The young superhero blushed and muttered an “Oops”, eventually setting the door against the wall in the foyer to fix later. He led Quasimodo inside and into Warren’s bedroom, where a crowd seemed to be gathering. Elisa, Nani, Macaria, Warren… The youngest of the assembled barely said hello before he dashed over to the window and threw open the curtains. He opened the window itself, letting the breeze drift through the room before something big and green began to snake its way through the window. Jim had stood on his hind legs and propped himself up against the Hacienda’s wall, sticking his head through the window. He brushed off the thought that he was pretty much just asking to get stuck – seeing Warren was more important for the moment. The dragon gave an odd, coughing growl as Warren’s eyes opened wide to stare. Jim was laughing; the pyrokinetic looked like he was about to piss in his pants. Who’s the scary one now, Warren? he thought with amusement. Jim put his head on the bed, taking up a good half of it. He whined a little bit at Warren’s appearance. The pyro looked tired and pale, and his arms were wrapped in casts from Hades’ abuse. There was also something sad about the way he held himself, more slumped and exhausted. Was he sick? Did he get hurt again? Jim's ears drooped as he nuzzled Warren, the best he could do for a hug. Also interesting was the girl that hung onto the pyrokinetic. It was Macaria, the goddess he'd brought to Will's sleepover when Jim was still human. He gave a reptilian smirk. I knew it. He quietly celebrated his victory over recognizing Warren's drooling infatuation over her. Hothead got himself a woman... Jim nudged Maci with his nose and gave another coughing giggle. Got any sexy goddess friends for me?

Upon hearing the odd, somewhat metallic tune from the tiny, all too modern, "phone" Quasi returned the teenage dragon`s look, with a light shrug. It had never occurred to the hunchback that messages and information could be sent through such objects in the blink of an eye.
Back in his time such things weren`t carried faster than a man could travel, which could take weeks or even months in some cases, and it wasn`t unheard of that the messenger would reach his destination too late. With that in mind, Quasi had to admit they had to be handy..
If he just could figure out the whole thing with this new century..
Then again, strange things had become more and more normal during the year that had passed after he left the belltower, but who who was he to know, maybe they had been normal all along, and he just missed out on it due to his imprisonment?
Will`s words soon enough ended Quasi`s reflections and brought him back to reality, stirring a slight worry. Offering a small smile of appreciation of being counted in, the gypsy settled onto Jim`s scaled back
************************
It could appear like he`d missed out on a lot of the recent happenings, Quasi started to realize as he noticed the crows gathering around the bed containing a weakened and upbeat Warren.
Although it wasn`t all to long ago the bellringer had started to learn to know the boys, then as friends of Nani and Esmeralda`s the bellringer had been quick to grow rather fond of them. And now, seeing their unfortune, a small sigh escaped him. Jim with his dragon curse, and now Warren had quite obviously gotten into something as well.
Not being one for loud and remarkable entries Quasi silently appeared beside the group already present, not unlike a genie summoned out from it`s lamp, nodding a greeting as he did so. Through the worry hunting the back of his mind, he found the scene as Jim`s large head crawled in through the window, rather touching, like a break in the somewhat tense atmosphere he couldn`t help but have noticed.
Finding himself an acceptable place, the hunchback settled, waiting to hear whatever was the reason behind all of this. Well, no matter what it was, he could tell already know it was not good news at all...

Elisa facepalmed as she heard the sound of her door being ripped off it's hinges yet again. She shook her head, unable to keep the amused smile off her face as Will walked in with Quasi.
"I knew I should have gone downstairs to open the door for you." Elisa said.
Will opened the window for Jim, and he snaked his head in to lay it near Warren. Elisa was so relieved that the youngest of her friends had his own mind again, regardless of his current shape.
"Just don't bust a hole in my wall." Elisa teased as she reached out to stroke Jim's scaly muzzle. "One destructive teen's enough."

He swallowed as more people entered, nervous. Warren quietly reminded himself that they were among his closest friends, and that they wouldn’t judge him… but the embarrassment was still there. His hand hadn’t let go of Maci’s, and he stroked the skin over her knuckles with his thumb while Nani took his face in her hands. He pursed his lips in an expression that said ‘not yet’, silently dreading what she would say.
Quasimodo appeared in his shy and quiet way, and Will barely looked at the pyro as he crossed to the other side of the room. Warren gave Will a confused look, but froze as the youngest of the assembled opened the window.
Something was sticking its great head in the room, and the pyrokinetic gaped at it, caught somewhere between surprise and terror. It blinked sky-blue eyes at him, and the dim memory clicked in Warren’s mind as Elisa addressed it and stroked it. “Jim?” he asked in a whisper as the dragon laid its head on the far end of the bed. The dragon whined quietly, and Warren realized that Jim couldn’t speak in his new form. “You don’t look half bad.” he said softly as Jim nuzzled him, hugging his scaly nose. The teenage dragon’s breath rumbled a little in his throat, amused. Warren meant it, too – he was sort of cute in a reptilian way. Like a puppy or something… He’d kept his round, human eyes, and his scales sparkled when they caught the light. The pyro kept a hand on Jim’s snout, rubbing it. The dragon didn’t seem to mind, but rolled his eyes and gave another amused murmur. Warren had forgotten for a split second that Jim was still there in his mind, not quite an animal. The dragon blinked, his brow furrowed with concern. Warren followed his gaze to the casts on his arms. “I’m getting better.” he reassured Jim. The dragon yawned, and Warren glimpsed rows of white fangs and felt Jim’s hot breath, like a blast furnace.
Will climbed onto the bed behind his schoolmate and put a hand on his shoulder, leaning back against Jim. Warren hung his head and released Macaria’s hand, wrapping it around her waist and hugging her towards himself instead. He gave a quiet sigh. “I…” he tried to begin, tongue-tied with anxiety. He closed his mouth and swallowed, his throat tight. He looked to Elisa for help.

Elisa's throat tightened as Warren choked out a single syllable before looking to her. Her eyes widened as the first thought ran through her mind "Oh God, I can't do this!" She pushed it away, knowing that saying the words himself were proving to be too difficult for Warren. She reached out to grasp Warren's free hand, gazing into his eyes, as if to ask "Are you sure?" Realizing he needed her to do this, she nodded in understanding, giving Warren's hand a gentle squeeze, continuing to hold it as she turned to the others.
Still, she didn't know everything that had happened to Warren. All she knew was what Will had told her, all of what he had been able to figure out, which wasn't much. She hoped that if she got started, that if she broke the ice and told the hard part, Warren would feel strong enough to fill in the blanks.
"The uh... The reason I asked you all here is..." Elisa bit her lip, releasing it quickly with a wince as her teeth dug into her still open cut. She took a deep breath, knowing that it had to come out.
"Warren was... attacked. First by Hades. He... he's the one who broke his arms, and he's the reason for some of the bruises Warren has too."
Elisa realized she had started to shake. Hades wasn't the worst of what she was about to say, not by a long shot. She glanced around the room. Only a select few in the room already knew all this, everyone else had no idea what had happened.
"Give me strength." Elisa thought before continuing.
"Then... When he was home... Persephone..."
"Persephone, for God's sake!" Elisa thought to herself. "How could she?"
"Persephone... broke into his house. She... used her vines to restrain Warren, adding to the wounds he already had, and she..."
Tears leaked out of Elisa's eyes once more. She held Warren's hand tighter.
"Persephone raped Warren."

((i gotta say, Warren's sig is taking away the drama of this thread. ;D ;D))
Macaria blinked in surprise as, seconds after Will came through the (now broken) door, something green slithered through the window. She blinked again and raised an eyebrow and stared at it. It....it seemed to know Warren, and Macaria's eyes slightly widened as Warren whispered a name in awe.
Jim....gods, that was familiar....Jim....Jim....
Her eyes widened more and she stared at what had formerly been a teenage alien boy, who she had met at Will's sleepover. What had happened?!
Jim nudged her (Macaria couldn't help but smirk, amused) and seemed to be saying something silently. What that something was, she had no idea.
She felt Warren let go of her hand and then she felt him slide that same hand around her waist, pulling her gently closer to her. She leaned against him (as gently as possible, not wanting to hurt him, for Zeus' sake) and placed a glowing hand absentmindedly on his chest. Warren couldn't speak and he had looked to Elisa to assist him. Elisa after a moment of hesitation spoke.
Macaria bit her lip as her father was mentioned and her eyes sunk downwards, not able to look at anyone in the room out of sheer embarrassment. And then she bit her lip harder (drawing dots of golden ichor from her black lips) as her mother and what she had done to Warren was mentioned. Macaria swallowed hard, her eyes still fixed on the ground. Maci realized after a second that she was shaking and her hand crept up and tentatively rested on Warren's for some kind of comfort, still curled around her waist.
Gods, Macaria thought dejectedly and internally winced.

Elisa’s words didn’t register right away. They echoed through his mind for several moments while he felt frozen to the spot. Slowly, the shock left, and the magnitude hit him.
Jim’s eyes widened and stared at the pyro. He slowly raised his head off the bed, never taking his horrified eyes off of Warren. A whimper started in his throat, and Jim suddenly drew his neck out of the room. He clambered back down to all fours, ran a little distance from the house, and simply pitched a fit.
The dragon’s whining echoed over the horses’ fields and the rest of the grounds, stirring up a small panic in the animals. He paced in circles and snorted every now and then out of anger and frustration, singing the ground with a jet of flame.
No! Something like that just didn’t happen. And it certainly didn’t happen to Warren. The pyrokinetic was one of the most intimidating people Jim knew: intense and angled eyes that stared a hole into the back of your head, powers that could roast a human to a crisp, muscles that Jim dreamed of, and a temper that was just as unpredictable as fire… Jim shook his head, whimpering. No. It couldn’t have happened. He was so tough. He couldn’t have been hurt like that…
Jim sat down on his rump. Oh, Warren… Elisa wouldn’t have lied. Holy cosmos, it did happen… The dragon stared at the ground, miserable for his friend. It was his fault… He’d asked Warren to help him drop a few gifts at Mala Hide, and then Hades had snapped his arms, leaving him too weak to fight Persephone…
Jim let loose a snarl, daring all their horrible luck to throw something else their way. It was like everything was falling apart, and they were losing control. And now Warren had been scarred forever, forced into something that should have been between someone he loved, something that now would haunt him for the rest of his life. It wasn’t fair.
Jim lifted his head and gazed back to the house. He sighed, glancing back at the ground, then broke into a gallop back to Warren.
The dragon stuck his head back through the window and nuzzled the pyro, choking up a bit when he realized that there were tear tracks sparkling on his cheeks. Jim whined softly, wishing that he could speak for two seconds, just to tell Warren that he would be all right.
